Celebrity pop stars are usually objectified in the media. However, some may argue this objectification occurs a lot more in music videos. The increase in sexualisation of women in music videos has caused a big stir in today's day and age. This is because if men danced provocatively or if they touched themselves or other people inappropriately it can be seen as highly offensive.
On the other hand, recent pop stars including Lorde, Adele and Meghan Trainor subvert expectations offering big vocals and empowering lyrics. This suggests that they challenge the stereotypes becuase of rarely being sexiualised.
