Statement Of Aims 

In my cross-media production I plan to use media language. As seen in the music video Wings by Little Mix, I will be using collage shots where there are 2-3 different shots combined on the screen of the band members at the same time. This will allow the audience members to have a good look at the band members in more of a creative way. I am planning on using filters to show a variety of colours and textures. The lyrics in my song consist of how vulnerable and scared the girl is due to bullying. ‘It’s like your light went out’ This could imply that the girl has lost her confidence, strength and self-esteem due to recent events. In my music video I will be using a visual of a candle to portray this.  

In my music video I intend to construct representations of individuals, groups and issues/ events. My first construction will be of an ongoing issue apparent all around the world which is bullying. Bullying will be the narrative and has become very common throughout the world and I believe addressing this issue will bring more awareness. Across my research I have not come across an Asian girl group. Therefore, it was important for me to include this racial group as I did not want to be stereotypical and have an all-white girl group. My music video will include the young generation and they are seen to be carefree and wreck less. I will challenge this stereotype in my video as they will not be portrayed like this.  

The way I will be targeting of audience in the category of young adults between the ages of 16-21-year old's is by including elements to which they can relate to. For example, as my location is set in school people in that age group will find it a lot more interesting to watch in comparison to the older generation. Pop genre is mostly listened to by this age group therefore the people in my music video will be wearing costumes that are age appropriate to reflect the lives of my target audience. 

My production of a music magazine will confirm to its industry context. This will be done so by including features of magazines like Pull quotes, stand firsts and a masthead. It will also have the bands social media tags for audiences to connect with the media products the band produces which links to Shirky’s theory of mass amateurisation. In my magazine I have included an article where the band are being interviewed. The questions are to do with the narrative of the video and are appropriate. I will be using pull quotes which are fun and quirky.  

My cross-media production will demonstrate digital convergence as there will be advertisement on social media. Again, on the music magazine having social tags will allow interaction of the target audience and the band. Furthermore, at the end of the music video I will also be including tags to increase the following on the different social media platforms.

What inspired you to create a storyline about bullying?

H: 'Bullying is occuring much more day by day all around the world. It's not a heartwarming subject to portray in our much videos, However as it is so common we thought it's extremely vital to showcase to our audience how bullying is not ok. We encourage everyone not to get involved in bullying others. It's not nice. Believe me.' 

Was singing a passion from a young age for all three of you?

Fizz: 'Yes definitely. Whenever I look back at my childhood i just remember singing most of the time and getting on the nerves of my parents. It was quite satisfying actually! I also remember using my hairbrush as a microphone.'

What have you got planned for the rest of the year?

Sam: 'We do not have much planned however we would love to go on tour in the future. it's a dream of ours and hopefully it can come true! We are nearly there and we all cannot wait for it.'

Who were your musical inspirations when growing up?

Fizz: 'Me and the girls are still massive fans of Beyonce. We just think shes amazing. Her music, the messages she spreads, her videos. So much thought goes into everything she does which is so inspirational for everyone. We honestly hope to be as big as her sometimes.'

What has the experience taught you?

H: 'Creating a music video allowed us to see the different people in society and what they go through on a daily basis. It has made all of us a lot more confident within ourselves and a bit more sentimental to the kids in our society.'

'Girls give me a headache'- This is used to draw attention to the article. The editors are aware that the main target audience for this magazine are girls therefore using them in the main heading will increase their readers. Justin Beiber is extremely popular with girls and if they read 'girls give me a headache' they will definitely be intrigued to read on. 

Sub-Image

The sub-image of this article Justin Beiber is pictured with a girl who is known to be his ex girlfriend. Fans of Beiber will see this and would want to read the article which the editors have again been very clever in.

Main Image

Justin Beiber is seen to be sat on a clear chair leaning backwards. Some may see this image to be provocative as his lips are slightly parted and there is squint in his eyes. As it is aimed at the female audience this is shown to be attractive and lustful.

Colour

White, Black and red are the three most used colours on this double page spread. The colour red has many connotations however the one that springs to my mind first is Love. The colour black is used to show how blacked hearted Beiber can be for stating 'Girls give me a headache.'
